Thoughts about the past, present and future under the veil of eternity - Archim. Mitrofor Dr. Vasile Vasilachi

Published: March 27 2020

For us people there is a past, a present and a future under the veil of eternity.

The past, like the present, each of us can make it glorious, because it is the epoch of creation. As for the future, he can shine in being with God alone.

Thinking humanly, our times have brought us to have an existential fear that extends over the three epochs of our lives. We are scared of what can happen to us at any moment, in the present and in the future.

I think of that fear they are afraid of and philosophically presents the existentialists. It is a desperation to throw away all the past and present we have experienced, into the death that is about to break us. It's a fear of the future, throwing you into a dark nothingness of nonexistence, they say. From this state of being comes to them an apprehension - an anxiety -, which all unbelievers have.

The situation is completely different for a Christian.

The past has a divine basis of creation, on which the present and the future rest on these eternal arms of the Deity, under the veil of eternity. For us Christians, the future is neither a crushing and nor a comminution into the non-being, but we have a paradise of the beginning and a heaven of the future. It is a beginning of eternity and an heaven of the future with God. We do not walk here, in the present or in the future, into an abyss, but enter into a garden of Heaven.

We, on this earth and when we leave it, are not orphans, but citizens of Heaven. We are constantly under the eyes of God. A divine majesty is with us and accompanies us every day. God Himself says: “Knock and it will open to you, for I stand at the door of each one of your lives, to answer you: ‘Here I am, I am ready to help you, to be with Me, who have all the power in heaven and on earth’.”
