Mono monastery celebrated its main feast day

With the blessing and care of His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian, on September 20-21, 2024, the Mono monastery dedicated to the Elevation of the Holy Cross and St. Ephrem the New, celebrated its main feast day. On Friday, September 20 the Sacrament of the Anointing of sick was celebrated and on the morning of September 21 the Divine Liturgy was performed followed by a fraternal agape.

From the group of clergies who participated in the event led by the delegate of the Bishop of Canada Fr. Viorel Țencaliuc - archpriest for Canada Centre, were present Fr. Aurel Sas, Fr. Călin Toderiță, Fr. Dragoș Giulea, Fr. Emanuel Ionuț Țencaliuc, Fr. Marian Costinel Iacobut, Hegumen Polycarp (Athenagoras), Fr. Thomas Bekurishvili (Patriarchate of Georgia) and Fr. Ioan Ivanov (Patriarchate of Bulgaria).

Fr. Aurel Sas delivered the sermon in romanian and Fr. Dragoș Giulea in english. They talked about the meaning of the Holy Cross and its role and power in the life of the Orthodox Christian. Fr. Viorel Țencaliuc, conveyed the bishop's blessing and greetings to the monastic community, priests and pilgrims who were present at this celebration.

The responses at strana were given by Toronto-area psaltis led by Cosmin Mardare. To the joy and blessing of the pilgrims, the relics of the St. Cosmas and Damian, Martyrs and unmercenary Doctors, St. John Maximovici and St. Joseph the Hesychast of Mount Athos were brought for veneration.

The event was attended by the delegate of His Excellency Oana-Raluca Gherghe, Consul General of Romania in Toronto, Mr. Consul Alin-Gabriel Constantin, Ms. Nicoleta Ștefan, president of the Christian women's association AROLA of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas and Mr. Ștefan Geleriu, former vice president of the youth association ROYA (Romanian Orthodox Youth of the Americas).
