St. Sergius of Radonezh

Troparion ton 8

You have been zealous for virtue, and, as a true soldier of Christ God, you have fought against the passions, in songs, in vigils, and in fasting, you have shown the way to follow to your disciples, therefore the Holy Spirit in you dwelt, by Whose work in the light you clothed yourself. So, having boldness towards the Most Holy Trinity, mention the flock you have gathered, our Most Wise Father, and do not forget to pray for your sons, as you promised, Sergius the Pious.

Speaking with the angels, you surpassed the pious men in fasting, vigilance and prayer, wise of God, Sergius, for this you received the gift of healing and the expulsion of evil spirits; and we, seeing some like these, sing and shout: Rejoice, Most Reverend Father, Sergius!

Prayer to St. Sergius of Radonezh

O Holy Father Sergius, do not forget us your disciples, and, as one who has boldness toward the Heavenly King, do not overlook those who come in faith and honor you, for as one who is a miracle-worker you can help us.

Pray, Holy Sergius, for us, too, burdened with many and grievous sins, asking for time of repentance, that we may pass unscathed by the temptations of the fearful devils who seek to take our souls, and thus deliver us from eternal torment in order to become heirs of the Kingdom of Heaven, together with all the saints who have always pleased the Lord, Who deserves all the glory, honor and worship, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and ever. Amen.
