On July 24, the feast day of the Holy Great Martyr Christina, Romanian Orthodox Christians in the capital of Canada celebrated the parish summer feast, the first in fact, in the church of the Romanian parish, built from the ground up, adorned and consecrated by the endeavor and sacrifice of faithful from Ottawa and through the intercession of St. Christina.
Despite the difficult times, believers from Ottawa and Montreal, full of hope and joy, united their prayers during the Matins and the Divine Liturgy, celebrated by the parish priest Grigorie Ţăpuc. Then followed a prayer of thanksgiving for all the blessings bestowed upon the whole community, for all the founders and benefactors of the holy place, and also a memorial service was performed in memory of all those fallen asleep in the Lord.
The joy of these days was amplified by the fact that at the call of the Holy Great Martyr Christina and with the blessing of His Grace Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, Rev. Father Grigorie Țăpuc received in the Orthodox Church a couple who later received the Holy Sacrament of Wedding. After this joy, the feast of St. Christina was also marked by the baptism of a two-month-old girl.
Thus, this year's feast added to the community, three more souls, for whom we give glory to God and to the Holy Great Martyr Christina for these spiritual joys and blessings!
Let us not stop praying to this holy helper in order to receive with love and understanding the temptations that come upon us, without murmuring and thus, with her help, let us also learn to pray and fast, in order to feel that we live for and in God!
Glory to You Lord, glory to You!
With the joy and light of the Holy Feast of the Holy Great Martyr Christina,
Preoteasa Mihaela Țăpuc
