His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian presided on Sunday, March 8, 2020, the Pan-Orthodox Vespers held this year at All Saints Parish in Toronto. A number of 20 priests and deacons from the GTA area from various canonical Orthodox jurisdictions took part.
After reading the Holy Gospel at the Vespers the hierarch read the Pastoral Letter of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church on the Sunday of Orthodoxy 2020, which he commented on.
At the end of the Vespers, the Romanian hierarch participated in the traditional procession with icons of priests and faithful, singing the troparion of Orthodoxy “We venerate Your most pure image, O Good One, and ask forgiveness of our transgressions, O Christ God. Of Your own will You were pleased to ascend the Cross in the flesh to deliver Your creatures from bondage to the enemy. Therefore, with thanksgiving we cry aloud to You: You have filled all with joy, O our Savior, by coming to save the world.”
Rev. Father Bohdan Hladio, president of the Association of Orthodox Clergy, thanked the priests and the faithful for their participation, as well as HG Bishop Ioan Casian and Rev. Father Vasile Aileni, the parish priest of the community for hosting the event.
The fraternal agape meal ended the day's program.
