Vigil Service on the occasion of the feast of St. John Cassian in Windsor

Category: Headlines
Published: March 04 2020

Saint Ioan Casian, one of the protectors of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, was celebrated at the Saint George and Saint Andrei Șaguna Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, through a beautiful Vigil Prayer Service. On Friday, February 28, from 8.00 pm, the Vespers was held together with Lithia, followed by Matins and the Divine Liturgy.

The faithful of the two Romanian parishes in Windsor gathered and prayed following the teaching of the Holy Scriptures, "Watch and pray!" (Matthew 26:41), to honor St. John Casian. They pray together for the spreading of Romanian Orthodoxy in Canada and around the world, and also for health, length of days and apostolic strength of His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian, Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, who celebrates his nameday on this occasion.

Parish Priest Deian Ilia Vesici took care of the liturgical part of the service, along with the chanters of the two Romanian parishes, but also with many children, eager to sing to God with angelic voices. The service in the altar was ensured and well-beautified, at the invitation of the Parish Priest, by Father Nicolae Codrea, Parish priest of Descent of the Holy Spirit Romanian Orthodox Parish from Windsor.

Thanksgivings were addressed to God for these blessed moments of prayers in the silence of the night, when the voice of the saints and the "care of God" (Acts 1: 2) above the "sea of this life" are heard.
