Sunday, November 3, 2019, the Romanian Orthodox community in Kitchener from Holy Apostle Peter and Paul Parish, participated in the celebration of 800 years of Autocephaly of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The event was attended by His Grace Bishop Mitrofan of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada. The Hierarch thanked all the delegates of the sister churches present, including His Grace Ioan Casian of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, represented by Fr. Iulian Stoica, along with the Romanian Orthodox believers, of Serb ethnicity in the area.
We enjoyed an artistic program of traditional Serbian dances and songs, - said Fr. Iulian - as a sign of intercultural communion on American soil, of a spiritual nature and of brotherhood towards our brothers in faith, but also of tradition, for many collaborations and links existing between the two neighboring countries - Romania and Serbia.
The Kitchener - Waterloo, Ontario region is richly represented by the Balkan ethnic communities of Orthodox faith.
