Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28, at St. George's Cathedral in Saint-Hubert, was held the biannual meeting of the Deanery for Eastern Canada. Clergy and faithful, delegates with responsibilities in the administration and the management of parishes, from the Ladies’ Auxiliary AROLA organization, from the ROYA organization for youth and from the field of religious education, participated.

The meeting was opened by His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian, who spoke about the personality of St. Antim Ivirean and his importance for the Romanian Orthodox Church and for the role played in introducing forever the Romanian language in the church service and the contribution to the creation of a Romanian liturgical language existing until today. The meeting continued with two conferences on the topics of 2019, held by Pr. Protopop George Chișcă - Patriarch Nicodim Munteanu - the scholar of his time and Mrs. Daniela Bochiș - Communion with the revealed God - meaning of the Romanian village. The celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing concluded the evening.

On Saturday morning, the session continued with a comment by the hierarch of Canada on the different catechetical and charitable pastoral programs proposed to parishes having the title Reflection on the mission and on the pastoral program of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada.

The responsibility of the Christian mission - said the hierarch of Canada - is up to us all, even if with different roles. The Divine Liturgy is the full expression of the Church. As in it we need both clergy and laypersons involved, in the same way the missionary act is one where we all participate in. This responsibility springs from Baptism.

There followed the reports on the activity of the Deanery (Rev. Fr. George Chișcă - dean), on the administrative record of the different legal documents (Rev. Fr. Olimpiu Mărginean - secretary) and the financial one (Adrian Pătru - treasurer).

The activities of AROLA (Psa Mihaela Ceaușu), religious education (Mrs. Anca Coza) and youth were discussed. Each of the participants intervened on the topics addressed by making suggestions and presenting their willingness to get involved in the activity of the parishes.

The meeting ended with the decision that each one of the participants return to the parishes from which they came to continue and develop the plans proposed for an organic Christian growth of them.

On the same occasion, HG Bishop Ioan Casian offered to the parishes an icon of the patron saints of the Diocese - the Virgin Mary, St. Andrew the Apostle and St. John Cassian.
