Saints Peter and Paul Parish of Kitchener celebrates its feast day

Category: Headlines
Published: July 08 2019

Sunday, June 7th H.G. Bishop Ioan Casian was present among the faithful of St. Peter and Paul Parish from Kitchener.

The celebrations began on the evening of the previous day by the Sacrament of the Holy Unction. Along with the hierarch of Canada, Rev. Fr. Viorel Țencaliuc - dean, Rev. Fr. Iulian Stoica - parish priest and Rev. Fr. Emanuel Ionuţ Țencaliuc were present. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated the next day.

In the sermon the hierarch said:

St. Peter and Paul are two coryphaeus of the apostles. Peter, chosen by the Savior Jesus Christ as their senior with the role of strengthening them, and Paul chosen to proclaim the Gospel to the Gentiles. Both the one and the other knew the sadness of the falling away from God, Peter by three-fold denial, and Paul by the time spent before the conversion in the Pharisee zeal pursuing the punishment of the Christians. And one and the other returned to God strengthened in their mission that Jesus Christ has entrusted to them.

From the example of the two we understand what it means to receive a gift from God in the Church and not only. The gift brings with it responsibility. The one who receives it receives it for the others. It is the gift by which one fulfills the work of God within the human collectivity. That someone has a responsibility to bear the others on his shoulders. His understanding and life become more generous, wider in accepting the other with their own thoughts. Thus, love and altruism emerge by which true relationships based on friendship, honesty and truth are built.

Rev. Fr. Iulian Stoica, after he thanked everyone, invited them to remain at the agape meal following.
