His Grace Ioan Casian: The perseverance in the faith and humility of the Canaan woman - a source of healing

Category: Headlines
Published: February 11 2019

Sunday, February 10th His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian was present among the faithful of the Descent of the Holy Spirit’s Parish in Bacau. In addition to him were present the priests Costică Busuioc - dean, Adrian Ghinea, Vasile Busuioc, Ioan Ferchiu and deacons Marius Gabriel Bărăscu and Petru Popescu.

The text of today's Sunday about the Canaan woman is important to us all because it shows the capital role of the two virtues - faith and humility as well as the need to have perseverance practicing them in order to see the healing performed by God - said His Grace.

The woman, though alien to the Jewish nation’s faith, is not alien to a persistent faith and love for her daughter. She goes and persists in his request for help towards the Savior worshiping Him. And the result of her humble attitude, hearing the words of the Savior, by recognizing the idolatrous faith in which she was living, brings the healing of her daughter. Her faith and her humility made her know God in His Son by the release of her daughter from the demon’s possession.

Today we are invited to be like the Canaan woman - continued His Grace - that is, to have an earnest faith and humility that goes beyond the insults or the inappropriate words we hear. We need faith and humility to see things healing around us by calling God and by our abiding in His presence.

At the end of the service, words of thanks were offered to the hierarch of Canada.
