The Holy Three Hierarchs and St. Demetrius Parish of Toronto celebrated its protectors. His Grace Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, was present on the 26th, 27th and 30th of January in the Toronto area on the occasion of the Parish Feast. On Saturday night, the Sacrament of the Holy Unction was attended by the hierarch and the parish priest Viorel Tencaliuc - dean of Canada Center (Ontario), with seven other priests from the area.

The Three Hierarchs Basil, Gregory and John are a powerful example of unity and diversity – His Grace said. The three confessed the unity through the faith that united them and through the human solidarity shown, but also the diversity of the gifts - St. Basil through ascetic life, organizational capacity and analytical spirit, St Gregory the theologian by the sharpness of penetration in the mystery of the Holy Trinity and the poetic talent and St. John Chrysostom by the 'pauline' zeal in word and life.

On Sunday morning, the hierarch served the Divine Liturgy in the presence of the parish priest, Archimandrite Lucian and Rev. Fr. Emanuel Ionut Tencaliuc. In the sermon His Grace said:

The example of Jericho blind person is important because it shows us once again if there is a need the strength of faith. It is faith that has kept the hope of the blind in order to be possible the healing. This perseverance in faith has proved its effectiveness. It was faith that brought him before the Savior Christ-God-Man-and opened the way to the full restoration of his health. Faith is man's extended hand to God, which He can grasp at the moment when man asks for help and wants to be healed and saved. Without faith, man remains opaque to the help of God who has no access to one’s heart.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the hierarch granted to Father Emanuel Ionut Cencaliuc the gift of confessor, and gave a pectoral cross to Rev. Fr. Viorel Tencaliuc as sign of the new obedience as dean.

The agape-meal ended the feast.
