Sunday October 22nd St. Dumitru and the Holy Three Hierarchs Parish celebrated its protector in advance.
The feast began on Saturday evening with service of Sacrament of Holy Anointing. Along with Rev. Fr Viorel Tencaliuc – dean and the parish priest, Arhim. Lucian Coroi, Hierom. Paisie Buhnilã, Rev. Fr. Petre Busuioc - eparchial Inspector, Rev. Fr. Pavel Goraş, Rev. Fr. Eugen Revencu, Rev. Fr. Vasile Aileni, Rev. Fr. Ionuţ Emanuel Ţencaliuc and Deacon Ciprian Purcarea were part of the celebration. Due to the fact that the parish still does not have its place of worship, the Divine Liturgy took place at the St. George's Antiochian Church in Toronto.
Sunday morning His Grace Ioan Caian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, was greeted with bread and salt by the youth of the parish.
In his sermon at the end of the Divine Liturgy, the hierarch said:
Today's Gospel of the demoniac of Ghergheseni is important because it clearly shows the source of evil - the work of the devil. There is no hesitation on the part of the demons that possessed that man as to the identity of the Savior Jesus Christ as the Son of God and His authority. The dialogue is direct and the obedience to going to the pig herd is immediate. But the evil and its duplicity is revealed here. The deceit used by the evil is to suggest the non-existence of God.
There are several other things worth to be emphasized. If the man under the power of the evil was naked, his outer state revealing his inner confusion and nakedness, after healing, the Gospel present him clothed, whole-minded and seated at Jesus' feet. There are three signs - the clothing, the silence, the calmness and the harmony of the mind, as well as the stay near Jesus - as the visible elements of man who returns to the rest, the natural beauty and harmony of human nature as it is in the presence of God. They become visible signs of the man approaching God. There are signs for us today of the simple and direct way in which we can recognize those who are friends of God. We can approach them and with them we can build on the good foundation the solid things - friendship, good actions, etc.
At the end of the Liturgy, a memorial service was made in the memory of those trespassed.
On the occasion of the celebration, the faithful were able to honor the relics of St. Constantine Brâncoveanu and St. Gregory the Teacher, gifts of the Patriarch of Romania, St. Andrei Saguna and St. Irodion of Lainici, donated by His Eminence Metropolitan Laurentiu of Transylvania, respectively His Eminence Irineu of Oltenia on the anniversary and commemorative year 2018 and a vestment of St. Paraschiva from Iasi.
An agape meal closed the feast.
