“Chant That Brings Rest to the Soul” - Church Music and Liturgical Singing Course
The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada (St. Maximus the Confessor Centre for Cultural-Theological Formation and Catechesis) is organizing a long-term course in church music (psaltic and choir chanting), designed to train those who wish to serve at the chanter’s stand.
This course will be conducted in thematic modules, in both online and in-person formats, with a special emphasis on liturgical practice through participants’ involvement in services organized in various locations.
You will learn:
- Reading at the chanter’s stand
- Basic notions of liturgical order and rubrics
- The main chants of Vespers, Matins, and Divine Liturgy
- Vocal technique
- Preparation for services
Who is this course for:
- Church chanters
- Young people and adults involved in liturgical life
- All those who wish to serve the Church through participation at the chanter’s stand
The chanter’s ministry is both service and responsibility.
