Festival of Romanians Abroad (May 18, 2024) - A Celebration of Traditions and Communities
On May 18, 2024, the 5th edition of the Festival of Romanians Everywhere took place, a large-scale event organized by the „Nativity of the Mother of God” Parish in Gatineau in collaboration with the Romanian School "Junimea" in Montreal. The event brought together 300 Romanians from Ottawa, Montreal, Gatineau, Toronto and Milton areas, being an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate Romanian traditions and culture in a special setting.
The guests of honor of the event were His Excellency the Consul of Romania, Mr. Andrei Ion Țârlescu and Col. Eng. Laurențiu Rusan, Defense, Military, Aero and Naval Attaché, whose presence brought added prestige and importance to the festival.
At the start of the festivities, Fr. Ciprian Augustin Purcarea from the "Nativity of the Mother of God” Parish in Gatineau wanted to thank all those involved in the organization and those who responded to the invitation, he sang the national anthem of Romania together with all those present and gave a blessing for the start of the event.
The participants enjoyed traditional Romanian dishes and a varied artistic program, which included a suite of talented artists from Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto as well as three renowned folk ensembles: "Datina" from Montreal, National, "Valahia" from Montreal and "Izvorul” in Ottawa. The atmosphere was special, full of good cheer and community spirit, reflecting the strong ties that unite Romanians from the diaspora.
Thank you all for your participation and support. We look forward to seeing you again next year, on the long weekend in May, for a new edition of the Festival of Romanians Everywhere, where we will continue to celebrate our traditions and culture together!
