The feast of the Ascension at the Diocesan Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr and Saints Epictetus and Astion" in Saint-Hubert, QC

On Thursday, June 13, 2024, the Romanian faithful in the Montreal area celebrated the Feast of the Ascension at the Episcopal Cathedral "Holy Martyr George and the Holy Martyrs Epictetus and Astion" in Saint-Hubert, QC. The events started with the Matins service, followed by the Divine Liturgy, celebrated by His Grace Ioan Casian. At the end, the memorial service was also celebrated for the Romanian heroes who fell on the battlefields during the centuries.

In the sermon, His Grace spoke about the significance of the Feast in the economy of salvation, but also about the importance of honoring heroes and memory for the history of a nation:

"Honoring heroes is a natural consequence of our life as a nation. Memory is an extremely important aspect that we must consider both as individuals and as a nation. Without the sacrifice of some illustrious people, our history would certainly not have been the same, and we as people would not have shared the same values", emphasized His Gracee.

Next to His Eminence he also served protos. Maxim Morariu, ecclesiarch of the Cathedral. The answers were given by deacon Valentin Boțu. Praised be God for all!

Protos. Maxim Morariu, PhD
