The Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada celebrated seven years since its foundation
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada celebrated its seven-year anniversary. The events started at 9:00 am with the Matins service. Then followed the Holy Liturgy, presided over by His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada, surrounded by a group of priests. Together with the hierarch served: Father George Chișcă, archpriest of Eastern Canada, Father Mircea Panciuk, archpriest emeritus of Western Canada, Protosyncell Maxim Morariu PhD, exarch of the monasteries in the diocese and ecclesiarch of the Episcopal Cathedral, Protosyncell Corneliu Andrașco from the Cathedral "St. Great Martyr George" from Windsor, ON, Father Grigorie Țapuc from "St. Matthew Evangelist and St. Martyr Hristina" parish from Ottawa, Father Ion Ceaușu from St. Dumitrie the New Mission, Montreal, Father Adrian Manea, Hegumen Polycarp from the Monastery "Exaltation of the Holy Cross and Saint Ephrem the New", Mono, ON. The responses at strana were given by Deacon Valentin Boțu, together with Nun Ana and a group of young people from the Cathedral.
The Holy Liturgy was followed by the Te-Deum service, during which those present gave thanks to God for the blessings showered upon the Diocese during the seven years of existence and upon His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian. At the end of the event, His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian spoke about the relevance of the Diocese within Canadian church structures and about its dynamics:
"We thank God for all the blessings showered on us during the seven years of our Diocese's existence. The fact that five new missions were established last year gives us hope and speaks about the spiritual needs of Christians in these lands", emphasized the first Romanian Orthodox bishop of the Canadian lands.
At the end, Archpriest George Chișcă thanked the hierarch for the sacrifice and dedication with which he served the Diocese all these years and wished him many years in good health. The event ended with a fraternal agape, which was attended by a large part of those present. Praised be God for everything!
