Mihai Eminescu commemorated in Montreal
On January 15 of this year, the poet Mihai Eminescu was also commemorated in Montreal. During the event, which began at 11 a.m. EST, His Grace Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada laid a wreath and performed a memorial service. The National Culture Day was also marked by the recitation of poems such as: Prayer, Gloss, or What I wish for you, sweet Romania, by Prof. Dan and Dana Agrigoroaie and Eng. Dan Constantin Mieilă, president of the Romanian Community of Monteregie (QC).
His Grace was accompanied by the protos. Dr. Maxim Morariu, the ecclesiarch of the Episcopal Cathedral "Holy Great Martyr George and the Holy Martyrs Epictetus and Astion" in Saint-Hubert, QC and Mr. Cristian Geagiu, vice-president of the parish council of the Cathedral.
As the first hierarch of the Romanians in Canadian lands wanted to show, the event is part of a series of events organized by the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of Canada these days throughout the territory of this country, with the aim of preserving the Romanian identity and to help those here to rediscover the relevance of the message and the thought of the greatest Romanian poet.
Protoss. Dr. Maxim Morariu
