Six-year anniversary of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada

Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Episcopal Cathedral dedicated to "Saint George the Great Martyr" and "Holy Martyrs Epictetus and Astion" six years were marked since the establishment of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada. The events began on Friday, May 7, with the Vespers service, presided over by His Grace Ioan Casian, the first Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada.

On the following day, Matins and Divine Liturgy were celebrated followed by the Tedeum service. The among the clergy were present: Rev. Fr. George Chișcă, archpriest of Eastern Canada, Rev. Fr. Mircea Panciuk, archpriest of Western Canada, Rev. Fr. Dr. Maxim Morariu, ecclesiarch of the Cathedral, Rev. Fr. Corneliu Andrașco, Rev. Fr. Grigorie Țapuc from the parish dedicated to "St. Apostle and Evangelist Matthew" and "Holy Martyr Hristina" from Ottawa, Rev. Fr. Olimpiu Mărginean, from the parish dedicated to "Saint Mina" in Blainville, Hiromonk Policarp, hegumen of the Romanian Orthodox Monastery of the Elevation of the Holy Cross and St. Ephrem the New in Mono, Ontario and Rev. Fr. Adrian Manea.

In the sermon, His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian, evoked the blessings showered by God on the Diocese during its six years of existence.

"Today's celebration belongs to all Romanians in Canada, a joy of a wish fulfilled in cooperation with God, a joy that gives us all a sense of responsibility.

The Church is the bearer of the Holy Spirit. The Church is the one that follows the breath of the Holy Spirit and works for the salvation of man. Today's celebration is an event that should make us all happy; it is the foundation of an institution, from an earthly point of view, and a family of God, from a spiritual point of view to which new and new members are added every day and every moment.

We are all obliged to carry on this breath of the Holy Spirit in this world, which has many good things, but also many less good things", emphasized the hierarch.

At the end of the service, Rev. Fr. George Chișcă spoke about the beginnings of the Diocese and the steps that were the basis of this event of primary historical importance for Canadian Romanians who for over 30 years wanted a Diocese to represent them. Protosyncell Dr. Maxim Morariu thanked everyone for the joy of communion.

Many Years to the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada!

Many Years to His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian!

Praise God for everything!
