The Feast of the Diocesan Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr"
in Saint-Hubert, QC
In the second Sunday after Easter, the Episcopal Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, celebrated its patron saint. The event began on Saturday evening, with the Vespers with Litia, celebrated in the Cathedral by protosyncell Maxim Morariu PhD, the ecclesiarch of the Cathedral, the protosyncell Corneliu Andrașco hieromonk Polycarp Athenagoras from the "Exaltation of the Holy Cross and Saint Ephrem the New" Monastery from Mono, ON and deacon Valentin Boțu. The liturgical chants were provided by psaltery Andrei-Cătălin Ghebaru, a member of the "Thronos" Patriarchal byzantine group.
The event on Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m., with the Matins service, followed by the Divine Liturgy, under the coordination of His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian having present the protosyncell Maxim Morariu PhD, the ecclesiarch of the Cathedral, protosyncell Corneliu Andrasco, Fr. Constantin Lupașcu, Fr. Adrian Manea, Fr. George-Traian Petre, Fr. George-Albert Drăgan and deacon Valentin Boțu and Andrei Ghebaru as chanter. The Divine Liturgy was preceded by the subdeacon consacration of Mr. Cristian Geagiu, the vice-president of the parish council. In the following speech, the hierach explained the evangelical pericope, emphasizing its topical dimension:
"Today's episode also speaks to us. We have doubts too. And the Lord answers us as he answered to Thomas. The important thing is to know how to formulate our doubts and not to turn away from Him when they appear", emphasized the hierarch.
At the end of the service, Hiss Grace Bishop Ioan Casian awarded, on behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the two Americas, the American Metropolitan Cross to Mr. Cristian Geagiu, as a sign of appreciation for the contribution made within the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, on the occasion of his 70th anniversary. The festivities ended with a festive meal organized by AROLA and the parish council. Praised be the Lord for everything!
