Deacon ordination, synthesis of parish activity and future projects

at the cathedral in Saint-Hubert, QC

The 33rd Sunday after Pentecost was marked at the Saint George the Great Martyr Episcopal Cathedral in Saint-Hubert, QC, with a series of special events. They started with the Matins service followed by the ordination as subdeacon of Valentin Boțu, Protopsaltis of the Cathedral and the by the celebration of the Divine Liturgy by a group of priests, under the guidance of His Grace Ioan Casian. Together with His Grace served protos. PhD. Maxim Morariu, ecclesiarch, the Very Reverend Fr. Petrică Busuioc, diocesan inspector, father hieromonk Policarp Athenagoras from "Exaltation of the Holy Cross" and "Holy Martyr Efrem the New" Monastery from Mono, Ontario and Rev. Fr. Adrian Manea. Hieromonk Polycarpe also brought for worship a copy of the miracle-working icon "Gherontissa" of the Mother of God.

At the appointed time, the hierarch ordained subdeacon Valentin Boțu as a ceremonial deacon on behalf of the Episcopal Cathedral. Also, at the end, His Grace bishop Ioan Casian offered a short sermon, talking about the importance of repentance and how it is illustrated by the publican. He thanked the guests for the celebrating together and the faithful for their presence in large numbers. Rev. Fr. inspector Petrică Busuioc, addressed a short greeting.

The events continued with the parish general assembly, during which the activity reports of the ecclesiarch, the vice-president, the accountant, the controllers, the representatives of AROLA (Ms. Carmen Cioană), ROYA (Valentin Cioană) and the Sunday school (Ms. Anca Coza) were presented. Next year's budget was established, and the proposed projects were analyzed and approved. The events ended with an agape meal pour tous. Praised be God for everything!
