The Union of the Romanian Principalities celebrated at the Episcopal Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr" in Saint-Hubert, QC

The union of the Romanian Principalities was marked on January 24, 2023 at the Diocesan Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr" in Saint-Hubert, QC, through a Tedeum service officiated by the Most Reverend Father Ioan Casian, the first Romanian Orthodox bishop of Canada. At the end of the service, His Grace also offered a sermon, where he spoke about the relevance of this moment for Romania's history:

"The Union of the Principalities comes to fulfill the age-old aspirations of the Romanians and to give them the opportunity to renounce temporal borders, which had been artificially planted in their path. The Orthodox Church was the one that made a special contribution to the realization of this historical moment, as it maintained the historical consciousness and contributed to the emancipation of some of the Romanian elites who smoothed the way towards this achievement, over time. That's why today we are thinking not only of the people who had a say from a political or diplomatic perspective, but also of the priests and believers who contributed to the realization of the event", emphasized the Romanian Bishop of the Canadian lands .

His Grace also spoke about the importance of being Romanian in distant lands such as those of the diocese he pastors and about how the Romanian identity comes with a set of values that cannot be other than Christian. Praised be the Lord for everything!
