Anniversary at the Cathedral dedicated to "Saint John the Baptist and Saint Calinic of Cernica" in Montreal (QC)
The cathedral dedicated to "Saint John the Baptist and Saint Calinic of Cernica" in Montreal celebrated its 49th anniversary since its foundation on Sunday, November 14. The moment was marked by a series of events. Thus, after the celebration of the Divine Liturgy by Rev. Fr. George Chișcă, the parish priest of the community and the Rev. Protosyncell Maxim Morariu PhD, delegate of His Grace Ioan Casian, a memorial service was held in memory of the founders of the church.
Father Maxim then gave the sermon, talking about the solemnity of the moment and how we can be like the Good Samaritan in our time. Then, Rev. Fr. George Chișcă thanked those present and recalled some moments from the history of the parish. The event was followed by the fraternal agape, organized in the social hall of the parish, during which the young people from the "Datina" folk dance ensemble offered those present a folkloric regalia of dances from all areas of the country.
Founded in 1973, the Cathedral dedicated to "Saint John the Baptist and Saint Calinic of Cernica" in Montreal is the oldest Orthodox community under the jurisdiction of the Romanian Patriarchate from Montreal. In the course of time, it received the visit of three Patriarchs, respectively: Their Beatitudes Justin, Teoctist and Daniel.
