The Sacrament of the Anointing in "Saint Matthew the Evangelist and
the Holy Martyr Christina" Parish in Ottawa (ON)
On the evening of November 12, 2022, starting at 5:30 p.m., His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian celebrated the Sacrament of the Anointing of sick in the parish dedicated to "Saint Matthew the Evangelist and Saint Christina the Martyr" in Ottawa, shepherded by Father Grigorie Țăpuc. At the event took part also Rev. Protosyncell Maxim Morariu PhD, the Exarch of the Monasteries of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, Father Olimpiu Mărginean from the "Saint Great Martyr Mina and Saint Ephrem the New" Parish in Blainville, Father Ciprian-Augustin Purcarea from the "Nativity of the Mother of God" Parish in Gatineau and Father deacon Cătălin Gheorghiu from "Saint John the Baptist" Cathedral in Montreal.
At the end of the service, HG Bishop Ioan Casian spoke about the importance of the work of grace in the Holy Mysteries in the Christian's life:
"If through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism we are received into the Church, the Anointing is what reactivates the graces of the Holy Spirit; through Repentance we receive release from the yoke of sin and restore our relationship with God, through the Eucharist we share in Christ and through the Holy Anointing we ask for healing from the sins and diseases that come to complicate our lives", emphasized the Romanian hierarch of the Canadian lands.”
At the end, Father Grigorie Țapuc thanked the hierarch, priests, deacons, the many believers and young people present for praying together. The event took place in the context in which, these days, the Romanian Orthodox Parish in the capital of Canada celebrates four decades since its foundation.
