Meeting of the Holy Synod and patriarchal anniversary

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Aula Magna "Teoctist the Patriarch" of the Palace of the Patriarchate, His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian participated in the work session of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church presided by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. Among the issues addressed by the Holy Synod was the approval of the St. Maximus the Confessor cultural - theological and catechetical training center of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Canada. This is an achievement of great importance and necessity of our Diocese which now, 5 years after it was established and the enthronement of the first bishop, will be able to provide a program for training clerics, chanters, and catechists in the Diocese of Canada.

On Friday, September 30, His Beatitude Daniel celebrated 15 years since his enthronement as Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. On this occasion, he celebrated the Divine Liturgy alongside a group of metropolitans of the Romanian Orthodox Church. Several hierarchs of Holy Synod, political officials and numerous believers were present. Te Deum service followed, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph of Western and Southern Europe who also addressed a tribute to the Patriarch on behalf of the Holy Synod.

In his speech after the Te Deum religious service, the Patriarch of Romania thanked both God and those who supported and continue to support the activities of the Church in the country and in the diaspora.

Showing His paternal love and care for the Romanian from everywhere, the Patriarch said: "We maintain a close connection between the activities which are taking place here at home and those in the Diaspora. Also, we have a growing need for continuous training of priests from the diaspora, as well as those from the homeland. That is why we have training courses and degrees to evaluate the training of clergy and to refresh their knowledge. All these activities and priorities are a concern of all clergy in our Church."

Also on Friday, His Beatitude together with members of the Holy Synod participated in the Europa Christiana Hall of the Patriarchal Palace, in the presentation of congratulatory messages from the representatives of the central and local State authorities, as well as from other public institutions.
