The feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at the Episcopal Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was marked in a special way at the Episcopal Cathedral "Saint George the Great Martyr" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec. The liturgical events began on the eve of the feast with the service of Vespers with Litia, presided by his Grace Ioan Casian, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada. They continued the next day with the Matins service and the Divine Liturgy. At the end, the bishop of the Romanians in the Canadian lands offered a sermon where he spoke about the theological and historical relevance of the feast:
"Today's celebration also has a historical relevance. It is linked to events such as the one in 628, which centered on a victory of the Byzantines over the Persians. At the same time, however, we are called to meditate on what the Cross means, as a sign of victory and as an aspect that defines our spiritual life", emphasized His Grace.
In the evening of the same day, the Sacrament of the Holy Anointing was also celebrated at the Cathedral, presided over by the the bishop Ioan Casian, accompanied by a group of nine priests from around Montreal and from Ottawa. The event took place in the presence of many faithful. Father Grigorie Țapuc brought for worship the parts of the relics of the Holy Martyr Hristina from "Saint Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist and Saint Christina" Parish in Ottawa, and Father Olimpiu Mărginean from"Holy Great Martyr Mina and the Holy Martyr Ephrem the New" Parish in Blainville brought for worship the particles of the holy relics of the patron Saints of this parish. Praise be the Lord for everything!
