Feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul at the Episcopal Cathedral "Holy Great Martyr George" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec
On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Episcopal Cathedral dedicated to the "Holy Great Martyr George" in Saint-Hubert, Quebec.
In his sermon, the hierarch of the Romanians from the Canadian lands went through the biography of the celebrated Saints, talking about their biographical journey and their mission. Emphasizing the example of St. Peter, he said about the revelation he had the following:
“The apostles saw Christ as an eschatological figure, as the One who will come and accomplish in His person, in His work, our salvation. The Holy Apostle Peter acknowledges this fact. The One they have in front of them, the One they talk to, the One who asks the question, is the One God spoke about when He inspired the people of the Old Testament ... The Savior clarifies one thing and removes any doubt about a possible human misunderstanding or misinterpretation by Peter about who Jesus is because of enthusiasm or other factor: “Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for it was not your flesh and blood that revealed these things to you, but My Father in heaven. Blessed are you who did not receive this from a human teaching, did not learn it from the tradition of ancient Israel, from the verbal tradition. You saw with your own eyes, you were entrusted with your own eyes, through the miracles performed, through the word with much power, through all that has happened to you all, with Me, you have understood that this is a divine revelation.”
Praised be the Lord for everything!
