The Feast of „St. Ephrem the New” Monastery in Mono, Ontario

The Romanian Orthodox Monastery in Mono, Ontario, celebrated its patron saint in anticipation on Saturday, April 30. The event was presided over by His Holiness Father Ioan Casian, the first Romanian Orthodox Bishop of Canada. During the Holy Mass, His Grace spoke about the example of „St. Ephrem the New”, his humility and his confessing courage, showing that he is an example for today's people.

At the end of the Holy Mass, Father Hieromonk Polycarp, the spiritual of the monastery, offered as a gift to His Holiness a copy of the icon of the Mother of God which is found among the precious odors of the Holy Place. He thanked the many pilgrims from all over Canada, pointing out that the monastery is for everyone, and emphasizing that all who wish to do so are expected to heal their wounds and find comfort and joy.

Through the care of His Holiness Father Ioan Casian, the faithful present were able to worship and pray at the relics of St. M. Mc. Gheorghe, St. M. Mc. Mine and St. Ephrem the New.

The event was attended by several priests from the Central and Eastern Canada Archdioceses, and from the Romanian Consulate in Toronto, His Excellency Mrs. Oana-Raluca Gherghe, Consul General, Mr. Gabriel Petric, Minister Counselor, and Mr. Florentin-Titov Gherghe, Consul.

The celebration of the patron saint ended with a fraternal agape organized by the community of the monastery with the help and support of several benevolent and merciful pilgrims of this Holy Settlement.

Thank God for everything!

protos. Maxim Morariu
