Memorial service for the heroes of the Revolution of December 1989
The heroes of the Revolution who sacrificed themselves for the freedom, faith and dignity of the Romanian people were commemorated on the 32nd anniversary of the Romanian Revolution of December 1989, Tuesday, December 22, 2021, at St. George's Cathedral in Saint-Hubert.
His Grace Bishop Ioan Casian emphasized at the end of the service that “the revolution of December 1989 meant an important moment for us as Romanians. It brought us new freedom to those of us who now live far from the country. The example of the confessors is for us a source of reinforcement and inspiration for a responsible and confessing Christian life that reminds of the values of the Christian faith and their role in a modern and changing society. We ask God to strengthen us to continue the path remaining until the great feast of the Nativity of the Lord, enjoying the gift of freedom received from Him through the heroes of the Revolution of December 1989."
